Don’t Non-Totalitarian Athletes Need Our Support?

by Suzanne Calvin

I’m shocked and dismayed at the looming “performance gap” and its potential to derail the medal hopes of American athletes participating in the upcoming Beijing Summer Olympic Games. The Russians have beaten us to the proverbial punch, yet again.

Wouldn’t you think that in the interest of national security and global image that the U. S. State Department would have had the sense to enlist organizations like The Dallas Opera for this noble cause? And with the “dog days” of summer coming, couldn’t we all use a radical change of scenery?

I am a visually chelelngad software developer from India. I have been using Windows for a long time now. There, I was quite satisfied with Internet Explorer (V6 back then) as a web browser. But, when I started my career in web development, I started to realise that IE has got a lot of problems rendering html pages with minor issues. Since then, I have liked firefox more than IE. So far, introduction of Safari, Opera, etc has hardly mattered. I did try my hands on Opera once being a web developer. It was required as I had to test my pages in that as well. But my JAWS screen reader seemed to crash as soon as I tried to use Opera. Hence I gave it up.

Russian athletes are non-totalitarian, dear! The USSR has been gone for 17 years, now. That being said, Russia is returning to its pre-Revolutionary roots, not aping America (thank the good God!).

Americans, when they come to the rodina, remark that not only is Russia more beautiful than they expected, but, they resent the fact that Western media lies outrageously about the country.

American soldiers occupy two states against their will and are scattered all over the world in defence of Bush et al. Russian troops are at home, defending the Motherland. Who’s the totalitarian, eh?

There is a new recording coming out of Pikovaya Dama featuring Lyubov Kazarnovskaya (she has just completed a recording of the complete cycle of romansy by Chaikovsky… all 103 of them!).
