Student Performance Programs

Elixir of Love

One of Mozart’s earliest works and written at age 12, Bastien and Bastienne is a comedic one-act opera that tells a tale of a young shepherdess, Bastienne and her boyfriend, Bastien. Bastienne believes her lover has fallen in love with a wealthy girl from the big city. Distressed about her plight, she runs into Colas, the town “magician” who has a few ideas of his own on how to reunite the young couple.!

  • The Student Performance programs are supported by comprehensive teacher training and TEKS-aligned curriculum.
  • A great introduction into the world of opera through the classroom, students see a fully-staged opera performance, featuring exceptional vocal teams from the graduate programs at the SMU Vocal Department and the UNT Opera Program.

Mainstage Performance Opportunities

The 2014-2015 Season

These two FREE programs allow your students to experience our 2015-2016 productions at the Winspear Opera House.

Mainstage Attendance Policy
Please reserve as many seats as you need, but we ask that you limit adult/chaperone seats to one for every 10 students. Chaperones may be teachers, school staff, school volunteers or parents.

If you learn later that fewer people will be attending, please revise your reservation by calling, emailing, or clicking the link in your confirmation email, at least 48 hours prior to the performance to allow us to offer seats to people on our wait list.

We strive to serve our community by filling as many seats as possible — and nobody wants to see empty seats in the house!

Dress Rehearsals

Students get the chance to see the opera production before anyone else! Teachers are invited to bring their students to the exciting Dress Rehearsals and watch the creativity that is put into these mainstage performances. Four dress rehearsals take place at 7:30pm prior to opening night.
