Education Programming

for Students and Teachers

We are committed to bringing arts education programs to the students of North Texas, 3rd grade through college. Join us at the Winspear Opera House, or we’ll come to you! Each program includes TEKS-aligned curriculum materials and comprehensive teacher training to take your students’ opera experience beyond the stage and into the classroom.

  • Student Matinees are performances for student groups at the Winspear Opera House.
  • Touring Opera brings student performances to your school — sets, costumes, piano and all!
  • Opera in a Suitcase brings a creative workshop and a fully-staged performance to your after-school program. free to providers.
  • Dress Rehearsals invites teachers, middle school to college, to bring their students to a dress rehearsal of a mainstage production. free!
  • TDO Sightlines puts students in our restricted-view (but not restricted-sound!) seats for mainstage performances. free!

Want to know more about an opera, its characters, the music, the composer or the historical context? TDO makes it easy with a variety of adult opera education programs. You’ll learn a little something about opera and have fun doing it!

  • Pre-Opera Talks take place one hour before each performance in Hamon Hall to give you extra insight into the work you’re about to see.
  • Opera Insights are lively panel discussions featuring the artists, music staff, and production teams for each of the upcoming TDO productions.
  • Composing Conversations is an ongoing discussions series featuring noteworthy international composers. We believe in bringing their talent to Dallas whenever possible.
