As part of Target 2nd Saturday at the Latino Cultural Center, The Dallas Opera presents a family-friendly performance of John Davies’ operatic interpretation of the classic children’s tale Jack and the Beanstalk. Set to the music of Sir Arthur Sullivan of “Gilbert and Sullivan” fame you won’t want to miss this charming and witty opera that teaches the timeless lesson of The Golden Rule.

Composing Conversations with Tod Machover
Tod Machover, Professor of Music and Media at MIT Media Lab will be presenting a encore talk about his opera DEATH AND THE POWERS (premiered Monte Carlo, 2010)
Machover has been called America’s “most wired composer” for his unique ability to blend contemporary classical music, opera and cutting edge technology.
Join the Dallas Opera General Director and CEO Keith Cerny for a conversation with Tod Machover as he explores his recent work DEATH AND THE POWERS and elaborates about the process of composing new work. The event will also feature a performance by American Soprano Sara Heaton noted for her “gleaming lyricism” by Opera News Online and her “sweet, pure soprano” by the Chicago Tribune.
