Composing Conversations with Pulitzer Prize Winner Jennifer Higdon
Composing Conversations is an ongoing discussions series featuring some of the most noteworthy international composers. The series designed to showcase all types of opera composers, from grand opera to chamber, will not only introduce you to some of these great talents, but hopefully ignite your interest in new operatic works.
Presented in partnership with KERA's Art&Seek, join the Dallas Opera General Director and CEO Keith Cerny for a conversation with Pulitzer Prize Winner Jennifer Higdon as they discuss the process of composing new work in the 21st century. Event moderated by Jerome Weeks, producer and writer for Art&Seek.
Ms. Higdon is one of the most performed living American composers working today. Her list of commissioners range from the Cleveland Orchestra to the Philadelphia Orchestra; from eighth blackbird to the Tokyo String Quartet; and from The President's Own Marine Band to such artists as Hilary Hahn. Ms. Higdon received the 2010 Pulitzer Prize in Music for her Violin Concerto, with the committee citing Higdon's work as a "deeply engaging piece that combines flowing lyricism with dazzling virtuosity. Be sure to RSVP today for this unique opportunity that is completely free and open to the public.
